ES Park Mono is the monospaced version of ES Park, designed by Xavier Erni (Neo Neo) and developed by Lisa Schultz. It embodies the contrast between the rigid rhythm of monospacing and the organic qualities of the baroque-influenced original typeface. Its curves are inspired by the shapes of two famous predecessors: Clarendon and American Typewriter. Due to its design features and thick, block-like serifs, it can be classified as a Slab Serif (also known as Mechanistic, Antique, or Egyptian). Its serifs are slightly narrower than those of other slabs, while the thinner weights have less contrast than the heavier ones, making the type highly legible at smaller sizes while remaining very impactful in bolder texts. It is perfectly suited to capturing the reader’s attention and emphasizing key textual elements.

In its default version, the terminals are designed as mini-serifs, adding a subtle ornamental aesthetic to the typeface. For a more traditional look with slab serif curves, Stylistic Set 1 (Round terminals) can be enabled in the OpenType features, resulting in letters that appear softer and slightly more organic. The ES Park Mono family offers eight carefully drawn weights, ranging from Thin to Extra Bold, each with a corresponding italic variant. A variable font file is also available upon request after purchasing the complete family, offering additional flexibility in weight and style. With its strong identity, consistent proportions, and excellent legibility on both screen and print, ES Park Mono is ideal for creating distinctive branding, editorial layouts, and typesetting literary works in a precise, highly structured manner.
